18 Juillet 2017 UNWTO.Themis Foundation trains 15 countries on crisis communications
Representatives from 15 Member States of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) took part in a three-day training course on crisis communications at the headquarters of the UNWTO.Themis Foundation in the Principality of Andorra. The training, organized by UNWTO and the UNWTO.Themis Foundation, aimed to build resilience at tourism destinations by creating capacity to develop and implement crisis communications strategies. 
14 Juillet 2017 UNWTO hosts meeting of global leaders on fighting sexual exploitation of children in tourism
The Headquarters of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Madrid has hosted a meeting of experts to discuss measures the fight against child sexual exploitation in the tourism sector. The initiative is coordinated by ECPAT International with the support of the government of The Netherlands.

Les arrivées de touristes internationaux pour la période allant de janvier à avril 2017 ont augmenté de 6 % par rapport à la même période l’an passé et la confiance du secteur atteint son plus haut niveau depuis une décennie. Ce phénomène est essentiellement dû à la croissance soutenue dans la plupart des principales destinations et au fort rebond enregistré dans d’autres destinations. Les perspectives pour la période allant de mai à août 2017 demeurent élevées.
13 Juillet 2017 Tourism key to foster trade in Least Developed Countries
Tourism can make a strong contribution to the economies of Least Developed Countries where the sector is a major exporter concludes the report ‘Tourism for Sustainable Development in Least Developed Countries’ launched on the occasion of the Aid for Trade Review held in Geneva. The report was produced by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF).
7 Juillet 2017 UNWTO hosts the presentation of the UNCTAD Report on Tourism as a Driver of Transformative and Inclusive Growth in Africa
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has partnered with UNCTAD, the United Nations Conference on Development and Trade, to present the Annual Report on Economic Development in Africa at UNWTO’s Headquarters in Madrid. The 2017 edition focuses on Tourism as a catalyst for Transformative and Inclusive Growth in the continent and underlines the immense potential of the sector.

Bajo el título ‘Futuro, Tendencias, Investigación y Experiencias de Turismo Gastronómico’, la Organización Internacional del Turismo junto a su miembro afiliado MADISON Experience Marketing ha presentado en su sede en Madrid los resultados de la encuesta relativa a al turismo gastronómico. Dichos datos forman parte del Informe Mundial del Turismo Gastronómico de la Organización Mundial del Turismo y han sido recopilados por Madison Experience Marketing.
4 Juillet 2017 Bulgaria Meeting advances the Western Silk Road as a transnational initiative
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria hosted the 2nd International UNWTO Western Silk Road Workshop in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 27-28 June 2017. The workshop was attended by 22 countries and consolidated the results of the first workshop held in Greece in April 2017. 
4 Juillet 2017 L’OMT nomme la Présidente maltaise Ambassadrice spéciale de l’Année internationale du tourisme durable pour le développement
Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, la Présidente de la République de Malte, a été nommée Ambassadrice spéciale de l’Année internationale du tourisme durable pour le développement. La nomination a eu lieu lors d’une cérémonie au siège de l’Organisation mondiale du tourisme (OMT), à Madrid.
29 Juin 2017 UNWTO Manila Conference sets roadmap to measure Sustainable Tourism
Nearly 1.000 experts from over 80 countries convened for three days (21-23 June) in Manila, The Philippines at the 6th International Conference on Tourism Statistics to lay the groundwork for an expanded statistical framework to measure sustainable tourism in its economic, social and environmental dimensions. The outcome ‘Call for Action on Measuring Sustainable Tourism’ represents a global commitment to sustainable tourism and the need to measure it through a consistent statistical approach recognizing that effective sustainable tourism policies require an integrated, coherent and robust information base.
27 Juin 2017 Tourism and future energy: committed to curb emissions
Under the title ‘Tourism and Future Energy: Unlocking low-carbon growth opportunities’, industry leaders and policy makers have convened in the Kazakh capital city of Astana to discuss the contribution of the tourism sector to reducing carbon emissions. The Conference is a joint initiative of Astana EXPO 2017 and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan.
