16 October 2017 The UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook focus on sustainable tourism
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the People’s Government of Guilin of China held the 11th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook on 10-12 October 2017. The theme of this year’s edition - ‘Sustainable Tourism: Beyond Being Green’, aligns with the celebration of the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. With the longstanding collaboration of the Hong-Kong Polytechnic University, the Forum has become over the last eleven years a reference platform on global and regional tourism trends.
3 October 2017 Argentina hosts the 2nd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism
To highlight the relevance of wine and gastronomy as key components of tourism development, the 22nd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism was held in Mendoza, Argentina on 29-30 September. The Conference was co-organized by UNWTO and the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina, in collaboration with the Region of Mendoza and the Chamber of Tourism of Argentina.  
28 September 2017 The mandate of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics renewed until 2021
With a leading role in the recent approval of the Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics by the UNWTO General Assembly held in Chengdu, China, the composition of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics has been renewed. 
27 September 2017 World Tourism Day 2017 addresses the power of sustainable tourism for development
Celebrated worldwide since 1980, World Tourism Day is commemorated on 27 September. This year, the Official Celebrations are held in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. 
26 September 2017 UNWTO launches a travellers’ competition to promote sustainability
With the aim of promoting responsible travel, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has launched a travellers’ competition ahead of World Tourism Day. The initiative is part of the ‘Travel.Enjoy.Respect’ campaign taking place within the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017. A one-month trip across the world visiting sustainable tourism initiatives is the prize that will be awarded to the winner of the competition.  
25 September 2017 The legacy of UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai recognized in Saudi Arabia
During a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai, was recognized by HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), for his legacy as he approaches the end of this term at UNWTO which will come next December.

18 September 2017 22nd UNWTO General Assembly in China: a week of important achievements
The approval of the Chengdu Declaration on Tourism and the Sustainable Development Goals, the approval of the Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics and the appointment by consensus of Zurab Pololikashvili as Secretary-General for 2018-2021 were only some of the achievements of the 22nd session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held in Chengdu, China last week. 
15 September 2017 Historical decision: approval of the UNWTO Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics
The member States of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) approved today an historical document - the UNWTO Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics. The Convention, approved at the 22nd UNWTO General Assembly transforms the Code of Ethics for Tourism into an international convention, the first in the life of the Organization.
14 September 2017 The 22nd UNWTO General Assembly appoints Zurab Pololikashvili as Secretary General for 2018-2021
Zurab Pololikashvili, current Ambassador of Georgia to Spain, Morocco, Algeria and Andorra, has been appointed Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the period 2018-2021.
