La quinta edición de FiturGreen, que tendrá lugar del miércoles 22 al viernes 24 de enero de 2014 en el marco de FITUR, se enfocará en las mejores prácticas y tendencias para crear destinos turísticos sostenibles. El evento se enfocará en la totalidad de la cadena de valor turística - desde la turoperación, el transporte, el alojamiento y la oferta de ocio hasta las herramientas de monitoreo, certificaciones, análisis de eficiencia energética y gestión sostenible.

UNWTO gains observer status to the Enhanced Integrated Framework Board
In recognition of the importance of tourism as a key export sector for Least Developed Countries (LDCs), UNWTO has been granted observer status to the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). The EIF is an Aid for Trade multi-donor programme supporting LDCs to be more active players in the global trading system by tackling supply-side constraints to trade (Geneva, Switzerland, 17 December 2013).

UNWTO Secretary-General calls for visa facilitation and air transport liberalization
Addressing the Royal Aeronautical Society at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) headquarters, UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai called for increased visa facilitation and the liberalization of air transport (Montreal, 5 December 2013).

International tourism an engine for the economic recovery
In the first nine months of 2013, international tourism grew by 5% according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. The number of international tourist arrivals reported by destinations around the world increased by some 41 million between January and September, growing above UNWTO’s initial forecast and creating an important stimulus to the receiving economies.

Portugal´s tourism associations commit to UNWTO Global Code of Ethics
Seventeen of Portugal´s foremost tourism associations have signed the Private Sector Commitment to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, pledging to implement the ethical principles of the Code in their policies and operations. The signing took place coinciding with the 3rd UNWTO International Conference of Tourism and the Media (Estoril, Portugal, 2 December 2013).

Cambodia’s Prime Minister accepts Open Letter on Travel and Tourism
The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, affirmed tourism´s role as an important agenda item for the sustainable development of Cambodia´s tourism as he became the 13th Head of State in Asia to receive the UNWTO/WTTC Open Letter on Travel and Tourism (Cambodia, 31 October 2013).
